Pre-booking
Pre-booking online, or by calling 01904 615505, is advisable.
We ask that you arrive on time for your visit. The time you have booked is the time we will start admitting visitors for that slot. In busy times, it may take up to 20 minutes to admit everyone who has booked that slot. Due to our controls on visitor capacity, we are not able to admit visitors who are late, but we may be able to move your visit to another time if there are spaces available.
If you are not able to visit the attraction for your pre-booked slot we can re-book your visit for a more convenient time. We are not able to offer refunds. You may find answers to your questions relating to our closure here.
Covid-19 Safety
We strongly advise wearing face coverings in our attractions and gift shops.
Please keep socially distanced from other parties and use the hand sanitiser stations located around the buildings.
Pre-booking – to help us minimise face-to-face interactions at our admissions desk and to reduce queueing, pre-booking your visit is advisable. Standby places may be available if a time slot has space.
Many thanks for your cooperation and consideration as we endeavour to keep JORVIK safe and enjoyable for all our visitors, staff and volunteers.
Visit our Safety and Social Distancing page for more details.

Bags & Suitcases
At JORVIK Viking Centre we are fully aware of our responsibilities as a visitor attraction. In line with advice from our security advisors, additional security measures are in place across our building. We kindly ask that patrons refrain from bringing any large bags or suitcases to the venue as there are no left luggage facilities on site. We also ask visitors to arrive in plenty of time in order for any potential security checks to take place.
Maximum bag size allowed in the building is 38cm x 30cm, includes suitcases.
Exceptions to the rule:
Baby buggies and oversized bags containing necessary medical equipment, or for use in nursing and babycare, will be permitted, subject to the owners agreeing that these items will be searched.
For larger bags, we recommend using Yorbag.
