Getting here is simple – JORVIK Viking Centre is located within the Coppergate Shopping Centre, right in the heart of the modern city of York
On Foot
JORVIK Viking Centre is a 20 minute walk from York Train Station and is located in the Coppergate Shopping Centre.
When you approach JORVIK from Coppergate, it is the last unit on the right before St Mary’s Church. JORVIK is on the narrow street part of the shopping precinct – if you reach the open, circular area, you have gone too far.
When you approach from Castlegate, turn left at St Mary’s Church, keeping the open, circular area on your right, and JORVIK is the first unit on the left as you enter the narrow street part of the precinct.
By Bus
Several bus services connect through York, making stops in the city centre. Visit the iTravelYork website for more information.
York’s six Park and Ride services allow you to travel to York by car, park for free in secure car parks and complete your journey into the city centre by bus. The nearest bus stop is situated on Tower Street, a two minute walk. For timetables and more information, visit the iTravelYork website.
By Train
York is on the East Coast main line between London and Scotland. It takes less than two hours to get to York from London. Trains run every half an hour, with at least 25 direct trains each week day.
Direct rail services also run to York from many of the UK’s main regional centres. York can be reached easily from all the following stations: Edinburgh, Glasgow, Birmingham, Bristol, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Nottingham and Liverpool.
There are direct trains to and from Manchester International Airport and trains run every hour during the day.

By Car
The nearest car parks are the Castle car park, (Castle Car Park Postcode: YO1 9SA) and the Coppergate Car Park (Piccadilly, York YO1 9NX) both of which are short stay. For longer stay car parks the nearest is St. Georges Field Car park (Tower St, York YO10 4AB).

By Coach
The nearest coach parks to JORVIK Viking Centre are the St George’s Field and Union Terrace parking areas.

Bicycle Access
JORVIK Viking Centre can be found on National Cycle Routes 65 and 66 pass through York. Cycle parking facilities are available throughout the city centre. More information about routes are parking is available here.

JORVIK has queue barriers outside, with pictures of Vikings and the red JORVIK logo. There will be a member of staff dressed as a Viking by the queue barriers who will be happy to assist you.
At street level is the gift shop, with large floor to ceiling windows within red-brown coloured brickwork.
