Explore York's City Walls

Join York Archaeological Trust for a tour of the city walls from above and from below, between Baile Hill and Micklegate Bar, highlighting some of the sites of archaeological and historical importance along this stretch of wall and in the Clementhorpe and Bishophill areas. Discover the results of the recent investigations of Tower Two. Tickets include admission to Micklegate Bar, where several medieval small finds will be on display. Pre-booking is essential.

As most of this event is outdoors and elements of the walk include steps and uneven surfaces, please wear sturdy footwear and outdoor clothing appropriate to the weather on the day. Unfortunately due to the nature of the city walls this event is not accessible to wheelchair users. There are unguarded drops on some sections of the wall. All participants are asked to wear face coverings when inside Micklegate Bar and to maintain social distancing at all times. Numbers will be strictly limited.
