In AD 950, a female was carefully laid to rest on the Isle of Man. The artefacts buried with her suggest that she held pagan beliefs, yet she was interred within an established Christian cemetery.

Her head rested on a feather pillow and she wore a spectacular necklace of beads. This talk will discuss the evidence for the identity of this “Pagan Lady”, one of the wealthiest female graves of the Viking Age found outside Scandinavia. Allison Fox is an archaeologist and curator, who looks after many incredible Viking artefacts on the Isle of Man.
