Lockdown will not stop the Vikings - coming into classrooms and home learning environments this February!

From 8 – 12 February 2021, the education team at JORVIK Viking Centre will be hosting That JORVIK Viking Thing for Schools, a week of free live Virtual Viking sessions daily at 10am and 2pm.

Sign up here for more details, and to gain access to a host of exclusive video content a week before it is released to the general public as part of That JORVIK Viking Thing, a new online celebration of all things Norse taking place over the half term holiday, from 15 to 20 February 2021.

. Virtual visit – experience the historically-accurate recreation of Viking-age Coppergate with a virtual ride-though, accompanied by our own resident Viking, Arnor.  360 degree technology allows the viewer to look around – as you would if you were travelling around in one of JORVIK’s famous Time Capsules!

. Meet the Vikings, short films featuring costumed interpreters explaining the roles of craftspeople and other citizens of Viking-age York

. JORVIKanory – top children’s authors read extracts from their Viking-themed books, including Francesca Simon, Terry Deary and Paul Tillery IV.

Completely free to join in, teachers will need to pre-register to gain access to the sessions and the online material.

And, of course, if you want even more Viking content for your week, book a Virtual Viking session for your school – more details here.
