Updated School Booking Process

On this page you can find all necessary information for your class’s visit to JORVIK Viking Centre, including opening times and duration, pricing and payment information and facilities. You can also download our handy downloadable teachers’ guide that contains everything you need to know about planning a successful visit to JORVIK.

Information for Teachers

Opening Times

Summer (April – Oct) 10am to 5pm
Winter (Nov – March) 10am to 4pm.

When making your booking with our Reservations team, you will be offered a schedule with a time of entry to JORVIK Viking Centre. We ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow time to complete paperwork and for our friendly Viking guides to introduce your visit.

Duration

Your visit to JORVIK Viking Centre will last approximately 1 hour.

Workshops last approximately 45 minutes. JORVIK workshops are held at our sister attraction DIG, 5-minutes walk from JORVIK Viking Centre and time to walk between the attractions will be built into your schedule of activities.

*One teacher free with every 6 child places booked. **Schools do not have to visit all three, four or five attractions in the same day. Prices may be subject to change. Please call our Reservations department to confirm prices at the time of booking.

Workshop prices

(charged in addition to attractions admission)

*JORVIK workshops are held at our sister attraction DIG, 5-minutes walk from JORVIK Viking Centre. The workshop price grants admission to the DIG classrooms only.

Payment Options

The following payment methods are accepted:

  • In advance: over the phone with our Reservations team
  • On arrival: by cash, card or cheque
  • By invoice: after your visit (UK addresses only

Please bring your booking confirmation with you when you arrive for your visit.

Lunch Spaces

School groups visiting JORVIK Viking Centre are welcome to use our lunch space or garden at DIG for no additional cost. The inside lunch space at DIG has space for 35 people.

Please note that pre-booking is essential.

Code of Conduct

Please ensure your pupils respect other visitors, museum objects and attraction staff.
Staff reserve the right to ask visitors to leave if their behaviour disrupts the experience of others in the attraction.
