Outreach and Virtual Outreach
Invite costumed characters into your classroom with a full range of artefacts and resources and discover what life was like living in that era.
If your school is less than fifty miles from York, our outreach service offers you the opportunity to invite characters from Viking or Tudor England into your classroom.
Using a range of artefacts, resources and activities, our interactive learning hosts will help your class discover how life was different in the past and they can cover a range of themes, including trading, home life, battles, beliefs, clothing, games and medicine.
After making your outreach booking, you will be contacted by a member of the Learning Team who will help you to choose a selection of the various optional activities to be included in your session.
All outreach sessions start at £175 for up to 40 children. For more information about booking an outreach session, please download our handy teachers’ guide to outreach here. To place a booking, ordinarily you can reach us by email or phone – however our reservations team are currently unavailable as our attractions are temporarily closed. Wherever you are in the world, you can invite a character from history into the classroom with our Virtual Outreach sessions.
Your students can spend 45 minutes discovering what life was like in the Viking Age. View a variety of artefacts, hear tales of Viking travels and then put your own prepared questions to our Viking settler.
Each virtual outreach session costs £50 and uses the Skype video-conferencing platform. You will need to set up a Skype account and check with your IT team that you can make calls to accounts outside of the schools network. Skype can be downloaded for FREE here: www.skype.com
